RACCA has established a Scholarship to honor the memory of those in the HVAC industry who contributed in some significant way to better the profession during their lifetime.  The C.J. Dillard Memorial scholarship will be awarded to an applicant pursuing a degree or certificate in a construction-related program. Preference will be given to those seeking a mechanical or HVAC specialization.

The RACCA scholarship is funded by contributions from members to honor past industry professional and matched annually up to $1,000. The scholarship is designed to provide partial funding to recent high school graduates or other individuals to advance their education at a technical trade school or a two or four year nationally accredited college or university. Scholarship funds will be distributed prior to the beginning of the academic year and used to pay for tuition, books, tools or other costs related to the pursuit of the degree or certificate.

To apply for this annual scholarship, applicants must complete the required forms and provide all requested materials to the RACCA Scholarship Committee no later than the specified deadline.

REQUIREMENTS:

A RACCA contactor member must sponsor the scholarship applicant. First consideration for applicants is given to RACCA contractor member employees or families.  RACCA sponsoring members must be a Contractor Member in good standing for a minimum of two (2) years.

First time scholarship applicants must have a high school diploma or an equivalent GED or be graduating from high school in 2018. A grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.6 is required if a high school graduate or if enrolled currently in a post secondary program.  GPA documentation must be attached to the scholarship application. Applicants must provide documentation of enrollment in or acceptance into a nationally accredited technical trade school or a two- or four-year college or university.

Past recipients may reapply but must submit a new application, be enrolled full-time in classes and provide documentation of at least a 2.6 GPA.

All applicants must complete the required paperwork and submit it to the RACCA Scholarship Committee.  Applicants who receive a scholarship are required to attend the meeting at which their scholarship is presented. Scholarship recipients are also required to send grade reports documenting their academic progress to the RACCA Scholarship Committee each semester covered by the scholarship.

The application must be completed and submitted by the applicant. The application form is to be accompanied by the following three letters of recommendation:

  1. From a teacher, school administrator, or immediate supervisor;
  2. From a person not related to the applicant;
  3. From the company sponsor

Each letter must state why the individual should be considered as a candidate for the RACCA scholarship program. The applicant is also required to write a letter with a minimum of 250 words and a maximum of 500 words describing why he/she should be considered as a recipient of the RACCA scholarship. All decisions by the Scholarship Committee are final upon approval by the RACCA Board of Directors.
